Diy kiki? Why?: Bright Yellow, Leopard print something or Rather

I cannot for the life of me find my camera so noting outfitwise to report except it is a shame because my outfits have been EPIC!
They actually have been clusterfuckeriffic but alas no documentation. so as far as you the reader is concerned they don't exist or have never existed. Le Sigh now I know how that guy who like had discovered that major cure/invention/mythical race of unicorn men and forgot to take his digital camera with him totally like feels.

Oh yeah I have an Iphone but I'm nto going to to go that far for outfit pictures.

Anyways I have been working on many mystery DIY projects most of them involve repairing torn clothes and using Selleys Gap filler to repair my beloved grandpa shoes until I can get them to a cobbler.

I don't mind the leopard print, it's gaudy, it's a little raunchy, it appeals to my caveman need to cover myself in animal hide (or polyester printed to look like it)
anyways it's everywhere now and apparently can now be considered a neutral...blah

I have however been liking the Dolce and Gabanna take on it in unusual colours,

and Oh My Gawd look at this one

Oh my god I love the simplification of the leopard print so it's completely tribal looking,

anyways I like leopard print but unique and unusual version, not so far removed as to be fluro green smudges on grey marle (every teenage-targeted chain store on earth I is looking at you) but not as naff as those hideous generic polyester tan and beige leopard prints (that can be found at every chain store marketing to 40+  four wheel driving women) Well anyway I saw a few pieces that appealed to me in Betsey Johnson's S/S2010 collection (watch the video and drools) that made me go Wooo, so i decided to do me some web trawling on her website and I saw me this lovely item

And I did some maths, namely I don't have enough money + I have too much arse = a very bad purchasing decision if I were to buy it, so I stupidly decided I will make me something that a) fits b) is cheap and c) is unique

Considering all this information I came up with a formula for a unique leopard print item

easy huh?

so I started I stole some permanent markers and bought a second hand yellow shirt and started drawing, and drawing and drawing .

It's been a week so far and I'm up to here

I'm totally getting baked by the Sharpie fumes , and the spots are swimming before my eyes  heres hoping I don't get too wasted and start drawing tiger stripes.

Here's hoping it works out I'm planning it to be my top/ tunic for a music festival this Friday's Big Day Out

fingers crossed.

My new haircut

It's curly, short, and boofy.

It reminds me of 80's Queen Latifah and the middle daughter from The Cosby Show, what was her name?

Shit I want: Plus Sized Shit

But alas I am poor/ super poor for the forseeable future (I stupidly in my flu medication induced stupor purchased lots of iphone acessories on Ebay)

Any benefactors who wish to purcahse one or all of these lovely items for me, please leave a comment, especially the suit, I want to slip into that light up a cigarette and go all Marlene Dietrich on somebodys ass

Yeah just like stretch it out in MS paint and add an afro and that would be me.

My Style Icons: International dolls of the world

I think it's a Kurdish doll (I was going to buy this one but the price gouging bastards at St Vincent De Pauls wanted $10 for this)

Some people gravitate towards The pages of Vogue, or celebrities or even other fashion blogs for style inspiration, not me however, I need look no further the gaudy baby faced dolls that you will find all over the world dressed in their national garb; their chubby cheeks remind me of me and their glazed over cold dead eyes remind me of me and their matted hair held on with hto glue reminds me of me

I know how frickin adorable are they , this one I beleive is Chinese,  well that's what google told me

Oh my fricking god I need to buy me rick rack in every colour imaginable... stat

I think I have found what my new collection will be, it's either this or sea glass

Hapy New Year!

Picture taken of Crowd at Field Day

I didn't got out on New Years Eve, I stayed at home happily watching Shaun Micallef and dreaming of our future life together and the variety of sex we would have, also I stayed at home in preparation for Field Day 2010 my first music festival for the Year.

You will most likely be seeing many more festival pictures over the next few weeks I have The Big Day Out In just over a fortnight, Good Vibrations in mid Februrary, and various Sydney festival shows over the next few weeks.

Gosh I love Sydney in Summer

What I Wore to Field Day, the knees down edition

Being a young hip thing into today's modern "electricified music" means I often like to these "electric artists" live in concert, but being a young hip thing means also I will have to contend with ten thousand other hip, young things in park, standing up for extended periods of time.

This is where my steel toe tradesmen boots come in handy, they are black which is as I have been told is this season "the new black" and also are comfortable to wear, slip resistant, waterproof, and with a steel toe it makes it much more pleasant when fake tanned, supre bandaid and fake wayfarer wearing skanks step on my feet to push themselves in front of me, also steel toe boots are brilliant at crushing cans to throw at the heads of said fake wayfarer wearing skanks when they sit on the shoulders of shirtless douches in front of me...

Or so I have been told

Anyway the Boots, the boots are standard traddie issue steel cap boots the chains and shit are a belt I got from Supre for $5 cut in half, they did the job they looked intimidating, I only had my Iphone with me so no complete outfit shots but my head looked like this

My Brother and I cam whoring in the crowd waiting for Lyrics Born.
Yes they are my new Karen Walker Sunglasses, I was stopped twice with offers of cash for them.

It was a great day, I love music festivals

Well because every other bloody blogger has talked about it

I wanted to talk about the most important thing in (in my humble opinion) about this shoot, yes it's goroundbreaking and breaking down barriers for fat chicks and size acceptance and some generic quote about self esteem and real women. yadda yadda yadda

If you want opinons on that side of things go here and here and here

But Nobody has bothered to mention the brilliant flashes of Clusterfuckery that these outfits are in Spades, I really like some of the acessories and the overall styling, I mean politically (fashion and body image politics not real politics) these shots are important and I think style wise this is an excellent representation of what 2010 is going to be like Crazy Poly blend fabrics, bright colour, avante garde styling and unique shoe and accessory shapes, and a hell of a lot more Clusterfucks of Colour

DIY Projects to make in time for A/W 2010

This tutorial from blogger Anywho looks simple enough even in Danish, I think this would be quite rocking a little bit longer in a charcoal jersey knit epecially for Autumn/Winter,  Style Hurricane has done a very cute version too!

If I start this now it might be ready for winter 2012, I like the simplicity of this pattern ( if I make it longer I think it would make a rocking dress too) , and I would most likely do it in a charcoal/ maybe heather grey too, because the cables would be lost in black and I'm sick of red.

Something Fringed; this tutorial for Phillip Lim's 2 in 1 fringed dress is speaking to me, and it's saying "make me, and while you are at it make me a friend it's so lonely being a DIY rip off of a designer dress from two years ago"

and speaking of 2008 A/W trends I want to copy in 2010

Something Rodarte inspired in Mohair and cobwebby and scribbly, I'm thinking some stockings with some chunky needles I dare say they'd take a weekend to make, and maybe in some different colours
